Nuclear war possible: Wasim Sajjad

KARACHI, Jan 03 (PNS): In the current prevailing strain situation use of nuclear weapons cannot be ruled out in case of war between India and Pakistan," former chairman Senate Wednesday warned.

Talking to the newsmen after the hearing of a case at Sindh High Court (SHC), Wasim Sajjad stated that India had build up its defensive as well as offensive forces along the common border which shown its intention for war.

Pakistani government has also prepared for the possible war and in case if it happens Pakistan would defend its territory at every cost, he maintained.

He informed that in different high-level meetings the government has decided that Pakistan would strive to settle the current situation through negotiation.

He said that both countries have traded intermittently fire in the Kashmir and bolstered forces along the frontier border is the biggest military build up in almost 15 years.

In response to a query, Sajjad said that the stage where entire world is opposing the terrorism and all the countries is co-operating to eliminate it, India could take the advantage of the current strained situation and could crush the independence moment in Kashmir by stating it as state-terrorism.

After the debacle of September 11, Pakistan has developed close relationship with various countries by supporting anti-terrorism activities in the region, chances of enlargement in military strength and economic stability cannot be shun, he maintain.

Wasim Sajjad also expressed his confidence over the assurance of General Pervez Musharraf that the government would definitely observe election with in the stipulated period.

He hoped, the masses in the coming polls would elect the people who are committed with the prosperity of the country and could devote themselves for the betterment of Pakistan.
